You, as a blogger, should know that guest posting on relevant blogs is one of the best ways to gain authority because:
- It gets you exposed to a fresh new set of readers on the blog you’re guest posting on
- It gets you good, related backlinks to your site
- You help someone out with their pool of information and provide a different variety of article writing style
- It’s fun seeing your name as an author on another blog :)
Let’s focus on number two, shall we?
SEO is an up and coming boom in the internet right now – everyone wants to get a piece of that 1st place ranking in Google, Yahoo or Bing. And for most of us, it’s a race to the top of Mount Everest – especially when you’re starting out. SEO can be a daunting task and a huge wall to tackle.
Since lots of bloggers are guest posting here and there and are getting some link love from their host blog, why not make the most out of that backlink? There’s just a tiny little secret behind squeezing out the best of your guest post backlink.
Wanna know what it is? Two things:
1. Anchor Text
I assume you already know what an anchor text is – it’s the words that describe what the link is. These are the blue-colored, underlined words that are clickable and that take you to another webpage.
Anchor texts look like this:
<a href="http://seo-hacker.com">SAMPLE ANCHOR TEXT HERE</a>
The anchor text is a very important factor of your backlink. It is the only visible and direct description that a search engine can have regarding your website from the website of your host.
2. Anchor Title
If you know your HTML, you probably know that an a href code has a title attribute. I know it’s not much, but in SEO – every little detail counts. Squeeze in your keywords in that anchor title and it just might be the one to push you up above your competitor to 1st in Google SERPs (search engine results pages).
Anchor titles look like this:
<a href="http://seo-hacker.com" title="SAMPLE ANCHOR TITLE HERE">Simple as that</a>
It’s just a tiny little detail but it’s a space for your keywords nonetheless. Being an SEO specialist, my advice for you is: USE IT.
A link just won’t do – you have to optimize it to the best that it can be if you want to grab that number 1 spot on your keyword’s arena.

Optimized anchor text is not only attractive for search engines, but for us humans too.
Yeap! True :)
