Working for the same company for years doing the same thing day in and day out was not the kind of life I envisioned in my youth. But we all know that as we grow older, we start to compromise our dreams and settle for mediocrity to ensure financial stability or security.
Just as I resigned myself to accepting that my life will never be more than a 9 to 5 job, I discovered something that piqued my interest and took me to horizons I never imagined, and that is – blogging.
Writing has always been a passion I carried even when I was young as I devoured books and wrote ideas in my journal. Though my skill helped me land a decent job, it was not the same as having the freedom to express myself.
Initially, I was under the impression that blogging involved both technical and writing skills. A friend introduced me to WordPress and showed me a better picture of the blogosphere.
And so I took a leap of faith – everything started with my first apprehensive post. What started out as a simple way to pass time, progressively became addictive. Pretty soon, I was almost as good as the pros and advertisers and business owners started pouring in offers to pay me to write reviews for their products, services or websites.
Later on, I taught myself to learn basic HTML codes commonly used in blogging. I started employing search engine optimization onsite techniques to increase traffic and visitor count and before I knew it, Google had given my blog a PageRank (PR) 3, not bad for an absolute blogging novice like me. And all of this I was able to accomplish in just three months!
It was then that I realized that the possibilities for me were almost endless.
As I continue my journey to the blogosphere, I discovered that bloggers blog for all sorts of reasons. Some write to express their artistic inclinations, others wanted a testament to their life, some publish their work to fight for sociopolitical cause, and the rest want to simply make money from blogging.
My blog started as a medium by which I can express my thoughts or opinion or write about things that interest me. As time progressed, it also became my refuge. During times of difficulty, I found comfort in writing and posting on my blog. It kept me pre-occupied from worrying or feeling down. I also found a sense of achievement when I get comments from readers who either commend my work or ask for help regarding topics in my blog.
After almost 3 years as a blogger, I have graduated from the newbie blogger status and now moved on with a better understanding of the benefits of blogging.
Other than being just a medium for self-expression, blogging has helped me earn considerable income from the Google Adsense program, affiliate product advertising, and even freelance writing about products that fall within my blog’s niche. And I continue to learn everyday as I vow to keep my blog dynamic and relevant with the changing needs of online readers and audience.
At this point, I can certainly say that blogging saved me.
It was not just a cure for my boredom, but it has lifted me to greater heights and I intend to push the envelope further especially now that I’m officially full-fledged blogaholic. I don’t know what the future holds but for now I’m having the best time in the blogosphere!

Same thing goes for me too!
I once do blogging as a cure for my boredom, the I know a lot of people and now I got a lot of knowledge and currently making money with it.
It’s amazing =)
